JEWELLERY GUIDE BIS Hallmark

1. Gold Authenticity BIS Hallmark

What is BIS Hallmark?

BIS Hallmark is a certification system governed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). It serves as a legal guarantee that the gold purity claimed matches the actual gold content.

The 3 Marks of Authenticity (Mandatory)

In compliance with the latest Government of India guidelines, every piece of jewelry from Carave Paris carries these three laser engraved marks

  1. BIS Standard Mark The official triangular logo representing the Bureau of Indian Standards.
  2. Purity Grade (Fineness) Indicates the gold's purity level e.g., 22K916 for 22K, 18K750 for 18K, or 14K585 for 14K.
  3. HUID (Hallmark Unique ID) A unique 6 digit alphanumeric code assigned to each individual piece. Customers can verify the authenticity, weight, and purity of their specific ornament via the BIS CARE App.

Our Commitment

  2. Every transaction is supported by a GST compliant official invoice, ensuring full legal transparency.
  3. We maintain a policy of zero tolerance for purity discrepancies, from our workshop to your doorstep.

2. Diamond Guide Weight, Value, and Origin

Diamond Carat A Guide to Weight and Value

At Carave Paris, we believe that an informed customer is a confident one. Understanding the 4Cs is essential, with Carat (weight) being a primary factor in both beauty and value.

Mandatory Disclosure (IS 19469 2025)

In strict accordance with IS 194692025 standards, Carave Paris provides full disclosure regarding the origin of our gemstones.

Note We clearly categorize and label all products as either Natural Diamonds or Laboratory Grown Diamonds. The specific origin is explicitly stated on every product page, authenticity certificate, and final invoice.

1. Understanding Diamond Carat

Carat refers strictly to the weight of the diamond, not its physical dimensions.

  1. The Metric $1 \text{ carat} = 0.2 \text{ grams}$ (200 milligrams).
  2. The Points Each carat is divided into 100 points e.g., a 0.75ct stone is referred to as 75 points.

2. Carat (ct) vs. Karat (K)

To avoid confusion

  1. Carat (ct) Measures the weight of diamonds and gemstones.
  2. Karat (K) Measures the purity of gold alloys.

3. Total Carat Weight (TCW)

For jewelry featuring multiple stones such as halo rings or stud earrings, TCW represents the combined weight of all diamonds in that specific piece.

  1. For Solitaires We provide the specific weight of the center stone alongside the TCW of any accent stones.

4. Quality Assurance & Certification

Every diamond at Carave Paris is weighed using high precision, calibrated scales. To protect your investment, our diamonds are accompanied by authenticity certificates from globally recognized laboratories, including GIA, IGI, or SGL.
